Lameness

Dr. Seale is highly skilled in evaluating lameness and subclinical performance issues in both performance and pleasure horses. He combines gait analysis, flexion/stress evaluation, local anesthesia, radiology, and utrasonography to diagnose most causes of lameness and/or poor performance.
Garner Equine, in partnership with Animal Imaging, Inc. of Irving,TX, also offers referral MRI, Nuclear Scintigraphy, and radiology consultation by a board certified radiologist to further aid in diagnosis of certain lameness conditions. Once a diagnosis is established, we offer a wide array of therapeutic options to get your horse back to peak performance. These include, but are not limited to, routine joint injections, IRAP , extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), regenerative stem cell therapy, arthroscopic and soft tissue surgery, and customized rehabilitation plans that offer the safest route to a speedy and full recovery. |
Pre-purchase Examination

Pre-purchase examinations are routinely performed at Garner Equine. Several levels of diagnostics are available, and tailored to you and your horse based on the intended use and purchase price. Clients generally consult with our veterinarians prior to the exam to determine what should be included in each pre-purchase examination. |
Surgery

Garner Equine offers a fully-equipped surgical suite with a padded induction and recovery room. Our routine caseload includes an extensive array of surgical procedures. All types of soft tissue, orthopedic, arthroscopic, and abdominal (colic) surgeries are performed. Laparoscopy is commonly performed as a minimally invasive method of cryptorchid castration that allows a rapid recovery and return to use. An ACVS board certified surgeon is available for most arthroscopic and orthopedic cases. Strict anesthetic monitoring is adhered to in order to provide the safest anesthesia and recovery possible. |

Dentistry

Routine and corrective dentistry are an important part of the wellness care provided at Garner Equine. Advances in the last decade in equine dentistry have led to improved performance and increased longevity of the sport and pleasure horse alike. We continually upgrade the equipment necessary to perform advanced dentistry, whether it be routine power floating, performance floats, arcade correction, simple extractions, or dental/sinus surgery. We are also dedicated to client education as new standards of wellness care are developed. For the past several years we have been inserting incisor rings to eliminate cribbing in horses. Please contact us for more information. |
Radiology

Our dedicated radiology suite houses a ceiling-mounted GE high capacity X-ray generator that produces excellent diagnostic images. The suite contains a padded induction and recovery room so that special procedures such as myelograms and cervical spine series can be safely performed under general anesthesia. The suite also encompasses a large viewing window so that clients are able to view the procedures while all exposure to stray radiation is eliminated. A mobile X-ray machine is also utilized for farm use to accomodate emergency needs. Digitalized radiographs may be e-mailed or a CD made at owners request. |
Ultrasound

Ultrasound is used to diagnose tendon, ligament, and other soft tissue injuries, as well as abdominal and thoracic visualization. It is also used in daily reproductive management. Several probes and frequencies are available depending on the intended use. |
Endoscopy

Video endoscopy is employed mainly for the evaluation of a variety of upper respiratory disturbances. It is also helpful in visualizing the upper digestive tract, the urinary tract of some animals, and for certain reproductive techniques. |
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy ESWT is a non-invasive and effective method of treating many sport-related soft tissue injuries in the equine patient, such as stress fractures, suspensory desmitis, bowed tendons, tendonitis, and musculoskeletal soreness (sore backs). |
Laboratory

Garner Equine Laboratory began in 2000 as a veterinary hospital in-house lab. At that time we earned federal accreditation to conduct official testing for EIA (Coggins) and obtained the capabilities to be self sufficient for our laboratory needs. We now perform services for other veterinarians in the area and we work with USDA to offer Coggins forms and Health Certificates electronically. |

All non-emergency calls are relayed to our office and returned first thing the following morning by either a doctor or staff member of Garner Equine.
Rest assured, your calls to Garner Equine will always be answered by a “live” person who understands and cares about your needs, never by a recording. |
